The provision is good
The childminder sets high expectations for children's development and supports them to gain the skills they need for their future learning. She helps to build their confidence to do things independently and to solve problems themselves. Children are incredibly happy, secure and settled. This is because the childminder has created an environment that allows children to play and explore in their own individual ways. The childminder observes children's interests consistently and quickly plans activities that will extend their learning even further. For example, a play dough activity was prepared after the childminder observed that children were showing an interest in different colours and textures. Children are highly curious, and, because of the childminder's good teaching, they stay motivated and focused on activities for extended periods of time. Children behave well and learn to follow instructions and routines, such as tidying away toys before snack time. The

childminder has an extremely nurturing and respectful manner and children have developed strong bonds with her. Children show great enjoyment at being outside, and the childminder has created an interesting and safe space for them to develop their physical skills. For example, they enjoy exploring in the woods next to the childminder's house, using magnifying glasses to study the natural world around them.

n Children develop high levels of concentration and motivation, and persist at activities for sustained periods of time. For example, children enjoy listening to the books that the childminder reads them. She then effortlessly links these books into the following activity, to further strengthen learning. When children find tasks difficult, the childminder's constant encouragement helps them to achieve their goal. n Children settle very quickly in the childminder's care. They show strong, loving bonds with her. Children receive cuddles, sensitive reassurance and high levels of individual attention. The childminder helps children to settle confidently when they first start, by gathering information from parents and quickly establishing strong partnerships with the children's families. n The childminder plans a well-balanced curriculum that is based around children's interests. She is familiar with their prior learning experiences and provides

interesting opportunities which build on these. For example, she attends a forest school regularly, to provide children with countless opportunities to develop their understanding about the world around them and to develop their physical skills. The childminder uses this as an opportunity to teach children how to take risks and keep themselves safe in a fun and exciting environment. n The childminder provides children with healthy meals and children know to wash their hands before eating. However, at times, she does not extend children's

She provides very detailed information about children's learning and development to parents and other settings children attend. This promotes excellent continuity in meeting children's needs. Parents are highly complimentary about the childminder and their children's care and learning. n The childminder is continually reflective. She actively seeks training and takes advice from other professionals to improve her already good practice. She is passionate about setting herself realistic and achievable goals and targets for the future. She shares information with other providers where appropriate, such as schools, which provides consistency in children's care and learning. n The childminder models language well. She gives precise, clear and detailed

explanations to children. This develops children's growing vocabulary and speech. The childminder has created an environment where children are encouraged to make their own decisions and share ideas. This means that children rapidly learn new words and develop a strong idea of what they like and do not like. n The childminder assesses children's learning and development well. This allows her to quickly spot any gaps in their learning. She shares this information with parents and together they plan how to support children's development.

Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder keeps the children in her care safe. She regularly assesses the environment and removes potential hazards from her setting. She talks to children about keeping safe in her home and when out and about. The childminder knows what signs and symptoms might indicate a child is at risk of possible harm. She understands the correct procedures to follow and who she should contact about any concerns. The childminder keeps her safeguarding knowledge up to date and is aware of wider child protection issues, such as radicalisation and exploitation.
