The provision is good

The childminder offers a calm and nurturing home, where children feel happy and secure. She organises her space and resources well. Low-level storage units enable children to see what is available and make their own choices. The childminder manages children's behaviour very well. One of her priorities is to teach children good manners. She models courteous behaviour and praises children for their efforts.

Children learn to be polite and respectful to others. They enjoy regular outings to broaden their learning experiences, including trips to soft-play areas and toddler groups. They also benefit from attending sports sessions and sensory classes. These activities help to promote children's physical, social and creative development.

n The childminder plays alongside children and supports their play well. She is skilful at telling stories. For example, she uses props and different voices that capture children's attention and keep them entertained. n One of the childminder's strengths is the way that she helps young children to regulate their own behaviour. She remains calm, patient and provides clear and consistent messages, for instance, about how to share. She refers children to the 'emotions mirror' to help them to recognise and make sense of their feelings. n Activities are planned to support children's interests, for instance, in frogs. The childminder talks to children about the life cycle of a frog and makes pretend frogspawn for them to experiment with. However, in her enthusiasm, she does not always give children enough time to think and respond to information and questions. n Children engage in painting activities, where they learn about colours, counting

However, at times, she overlooks opportunities to pronounce some words correctly, so that children can hear and copy. n The childminder recognises when children become a little restless and need to burn off some energy. Consequently, she organises active games, so that
