p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

One of the children who lives at the home gave the inspector a tour. It was clear that this child liked her home and took pride in showing the inspector around.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The home overall is furnished and maintained to a good standard. It provides a welcoming environment for children. There is a large well-stocked modern kitchen, and bathrooms upstairs are also modern and well maintained. The downstairs bathroom needs redecorating, which is planned. There is a large garden which houses chickens, and there is a house cat.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Children’s bedrooms are personalised. However, one child has pinned his curtains to his windows, which makes his room dark and cave-like. Staff are working with the child to help him make his room homelier.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Children who live at the home and those who have moved on are provided with consistent nurturing care. Children benefit from positive and secure relationships with staff.

p.2

One child is attending school and he is making good progress. The other child is waiting to start her new school. The registered manager is promoting informal learning opportunities for this child daily, to support ongoing learning.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Safeguarding practice is of a good standard. The registered manager ensures that actions taken to help protect children are rigorous. However, records and analysis of times when children have been missing and of physical interventions are not easily located. Furthermore, management oversight and reflection are lacking in some areas. For example, there has been no reflection regarding a child who left the home due to concerning behaviour. Reflection is needed to enable the manager and staff to consider any learning from the incidents that took place. Therefore, a requirement has been made to express the need for improvement in these areas. Inspection report children’s home: SC363393 3
