p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is inadequate
Safeguarding is ineffective. Since the previous inspection, the childminder has undertaken safeguarding training to try and improve her understanding of child protection. Although she has gained some knowledge, it is insufficient to ensure she can identify and report concerns about children at risk of harm. Her knowledge of the procedures to follow in the event an allegation is made against adults on the premises remains weak. As a result, children's welfare is not protected. The childminder fails to keep the required records to ensure children's health and safety. An accurate record of children's attendance is not maintained so that she can securely monitor absences should the need arise. Children are exposed to risks in the environment from access to hazards such as cleaning products within their reach. The childminder fails to keep a record of accidents or injuries to children to ensure she can identify and reduce areas of

risk to keep children safe. Parents report they are happy with the childminder, who communicates with them verbally and through text messages daily. The childminder seeks the support from the local authority. However, her poor understanding of the early years foundation stage requirements means she remains unfamiliar with what is required of her and of what she needs to improve. As a result, children's health, safety and learning are not assured.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The quality of teaching remains poor. The childminder fails to identify children's individual learning needs accurately to ensure their good progress. As a result, children do not benefit from activities that are planned with a purpose and challenge their thinking. Young children enjoy lots of warm interaction and attention from the childminder, for example when they build with blocks. However, children's concentration is adversely impacted by the childminder's eagerness to move on to other activities before they have finished. Children enjoy lining up crayons and occasionally respond to the childminder's frequent requests to name colours of crayons being used. However, they are not engaged in productive learning opportunities to ensure their good progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
The childminder does not ensure children's health and safety. She administers medication to children without obtaining written consent and does not keep a record of medicines she has given to children. Children do not gain important skills such as self- help skills. This is because the childminder completes simple tasks for them which they should be learning to do for themselves. For example, learning to feed and dress themselves. The childminder provides children with fresh fruit and helps them to remain hydrated through access to fresh drinking water. Children receive lots of cuddles and kindness and generally behave well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are inadequate
Children do not gain the skills they should because the quality of teaching and assessment is weak. The childminder's assessment of children's progress is inaccurate. As a result, young children do not have the chances to gain the skills they should. The childminder does not recognise when the children should be introduced to gaining the skills they need for their future learning. Furthermore, she continues to fail to understand her duty to complete a progress check for children aged between two and three years. This reduces the chance for children who may need additional help to receive it promptly, because progress has not been tracked within the correct timescale.
