Inspection report children’s home: 1274341 1 Registered provider: Park Blue Homes Limited Interim inspection Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This children’s home is owned and managed by a private organisation. It provides care and accommodation for up to three children and young people. The manager has been registered with Ofsted since September 2018.

p.1

Inspection date: 22 January 2020

Enforcement action since last inspection: none Inspection report children’s home: 1274341 2

p.1

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At the interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has sustained effectiveness.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Since the previous inspection in July 2019, the registered manager and staff team have continued to provide the children and young people with a calming and safe environment in which to thrive.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Actions to address requirements made at the previous inspection have been met. As a result, children and young people who move in to the home do so in a planned and considered way. The manager makes good use of assessment tools to ensure that children safely live together. The response by the manager to allegations and incidents of concern is timely, appropriate and ensures that all professionals are kept informed.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Since the previous inspection, despite the hard work by the staff team, one young person had to be moved on from the home. This was because staff could not prevent the young person from placing herself at risk. However, excellent efforts were taken by the staff team to reduce the risks, work collaboratively with other professionals and to support the young person in her new living environment.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The children living in the home are settled and they are making progress. They enjoy, and benefit from trusting relationships with the staff team. The staff are at times challenged by some of the children’s behaviours. Despite this, well-written behaviour management records provide staff with strategies, which means that the use of physical intervention is minimal and always appropriately used.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The manager ensures that new members of staff are recruited safely and access a good range of training. As a result, staff feel supported and kept up to date with learning. The manager uses supervision effectively to address poor practice and when necessary, identifies additional learning.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Monitoring of the home is in the main good, and directly informs the development plan. However, some records lack enough evaluation, analysis and reflection by the manager. Furthermore, the manager has failed to note that some records are incomplete. This means opportunities to learn and develop practice are missed.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

During this period, a new manager has been appointed and registered with Ofsted. Both the new manager and the existing manager are working well together, ensuring a smooth transition period for both the children and the staff team. Inspection report children’s home: 1274341 3
