The provision is outstanding
Children have access to very well-resourced and dedicated playrooms within the home. They are fascinated to explore and investigate the huge range of stimulating and innovative opportunities. Young children are deeply engaged in their learning, and are developing their natural curiosity and imaginations. Children spend a very long time engaged in exploring water, fruit-flavoured teabags and lemons with teapots, jugs, spoons and glasses. They are encouraged to use their imaginations and to problem solve during all activities. Older children carefully and safely use hammers and nails, which develops their hand-to-eye coordination. Outdoors, children use large chalkboards and transparent easels to make marks. Toddlers work out how to use pulleys and persevere to pull down buckets. Children's behaviour is excellent. They are given specific praise by the childminder for their efforts and achievements. They show genuine affection for their friends. All

n The childminder is very calm, warm and extremely caring. He works hard to establish effective partnerships with parents. Parents are invited to regular 'open days', where they have the opportunity to stay and play with their children. The childminder uses these sessions to share children's learning journeys with their parents and discuss the progress they have made. There is a wealth of information and booklets displayed to help support parents to continue their child's learning at home. n The childminder encourages children to develop their independence at every opportunity. Toddlers learn to dress themselves and use real, but small, cutlery. Older children confidently set the table before meals and very competently pour each other's drinks. Younger children confidently hang their coats up on individual pegs with their photographs on. n The outdoor area is particularly stimulating and provides children with plenty of

For example, they learn about Australia Day. n The childminder encourages children to develop their early literacy skills throughout all activities. Books are displayed attractively in all areas for children to freely select. Toddlers become absorbed in looking at favourite books, babbling and pointing to the pictures. children's communication and language skills. Children take part in regular singing sessions. They patiently and enthusiastically wait for a turn to pick an object out of their 'song bag'. Toddlers develop their vocabularies when they join in with the words and actions of their favourite songs. n Children have many opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, babies take part in regular sessions of 'tummy time'. The childminder provides very motivating ways to develop children's early writing skills. Older children make marks on clipboards when they play, recognise letters on an old-fashioned typewriter and confidently write their names when writing cards to Santa. Younger children make marks in foam and cereal in large trays on the floor. n The childminder has a very strong commitment to improvement and continually enhancing his knowledge. He has clear and insightful plans in place to enhance
