Significant improvements have been made to the home environment. These include a full refurbishment, with new furniture and interior redecoration. The home presents as clean and tidy. Young people’s bedrooms have been repainted and some windows replaced which are now designed to prevent young people climbing out of them to access the rear roof area.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There is now a full staff team in place to support young people when the home reopens. Staff have attended various training courses to develop the knowledge and skills that they will require to safeguard young people and promote their welfare. The registered manager has completed a reflective learning journal, both to analyse Inspection report for children's home – monitoring visit: SC389649 2 and consider the failings in the home and to identify what action could have been taken at an earlier stage to prevent the concerns around children’s safety from escalating. This has been an honest reflection that has provided the registered manager with key learning points to improve practice within the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The new monitoring tools and systems at the home help to ensure that patterns and trends are identified. These systems will help staff to provide more proactive care to young people.
