This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At the interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has sustained effectiveness.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff have worked hard to maintain the high quality of care that they provide to the children. The manager has ensured that all the requirements raised at the last inspection have been met. As a result, improvements have been made to children’s individual placement plans that now show children’s progress. Fire safety has been improved with more fire detection devices installed and new fire doors fitted to children’s bedrooms.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home is well furnished and homely. Children are given the opportunity to personalise their bedrooms and to make suggestions about how the home is furnished. At the time of this inspection, the home was looking very festive with Christmas trees and decorations. However, the decking in the back garden was found to be a slip hazard. This means that if anyone was to exit the garden via the decking in a hurry they could fall and harm themselves.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff hold high aspirations for children and offer practical and emotional support to help them sustain their progress. One child has become increasingly independent; he is attending college and has clear aspirations about his future. Another child is supported to maintain his school placement, which is some distance from the home. This commitment to sustain the child’s school place has given him consistency and continuity in his education.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Staff offer a caring and nurturing approach and work hard to get to know the children. Behaviour management plans outline children’s needs and provide staff with guidance on how to respond when children are anxious and unsettled. As a result, incidents of physical intervention are rare.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Managers act swiftly when allegations are made. This prompt action safeguards children and the staff.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager maintains good relationships with the local neighbours and acts appropriately when concerns are raised.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager continues to use monitoring systems to evaluate the quality of care children receive. This has enabled her to identify additional training for the staff to meet the needs of children living at the home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager had updated the home’s statement of purpose. However, she has forgotten to send the revised version to the regulator. Inspection report children’s home: SC447457 3
