p.1

The provision is good

The childminder has made substantial progress in improving her service since the last inspection. She has worked very hard to ensure she meets all requirements and children have benefited immensely from this. The home is safe and clean, and children obviously enjoy their time with the childminder and their friends. They show they feel secure and safe, for example, by approaching the childminder for cuddles and including her in their play. The childminder knows the children well and has a clear understanding of how she can support their future development. She works closely with parents, who report how happy they are with the care offered to their children and acknowledge the improvements the childminder has made. The childminder tackles inappropriate behaviour well, providing clear explanations about why this is not acceptable. Children subsequently show respect for one another and remind each other about the rules. Children are imaginative

and their interests are identified and used by the childminder to provide fun activities and games. This helps to capture children's interest and supports them in making good progress.

well. Children who receive support from professionals benefit greatly from the childminder seeking activity ideas and implementing these in her own curriculum. The childminder models language well, introducing new words and encouraging children to listen and participate in stories and games. This helps to promote their communication and listening skills. n Children enjoy healthy and nutritious meals and snacks. They sit together to eat, enjoying conversation with their friends. Children who have specific dietary preferences are supported effectively. The childminder offers opportunities for children to taste new foods, which has helped them enjoy a more balanced diet.

26 November 2019 n Children are very confident and self-assured. They eagerly accept challenges given by the childminder. For example, they use pretend play-food to make a cake, which leads to them matching different colour cups and saucers ready for a tea party. n Children confidently ask the childminder for help if needed, but equally enjoy being independent. When they achieve something new, their achievements are celebrated, which helps to raise their confidence and self-esteem. n Children enjoy participating in a range of activities across all areas of learning, although opportunities for children to explore how things work are less well supported. They develop an understanding of direction and positional language, such as when they take turns to move through a tunnel in different ways. They enjoy opportunities to problem-solve and think through their ideas.

The childminder has a clear understanding of how to ensure her home is safe and suitable. She monitors any potential risks and ensures the premises is kept tidy and clean. The childminder has accessed online training in child protection issues and is able to confidently explain signs of abuse and how she would take action to refer any concerns to the appropriate agencies. The childminder understands how to keep children safe when online and has ensured appropriate parental controls are used when children use electronic devices. Accidents and attendance records are completed carefully to help the childminder monitor children's safety and limit any identified risks.
