p.1

The provision is good

Children form a close attachment to the childminder. They show that they feel happy and safe, and actively seek cuddles and reassurance when they become upset. They behave well and are eager to invite others to join in their play. For example, children pass a favourite doll to their peers, and giggle as they move it to make it dance. The childminder strives to provide the best possible learning opportunities for all children, within a safe and nurturing environment. Children benefit from access to high-quality resources and plenty of space to move around within a dedicated playroom.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder works closely with parents and encourages sharing of information, which helps her to get to know children well. She uses accurate assessments to monitor the progress children are making and to promptly identify and support any gaps in learning. The childminder plans enjoyable experiences around each child's interests and what they need to learn next. Parents state that children enjoy the regular homework and ideas for activities to do at home. For example, they say children play number games and choose a book to share at home. Parents say that their children have come on leaps and bounds.

She provides resources for children to use in their own way. For example, children concentrate as they line up the small-world farm fences. Younger children shake the sensory bottles and observe the glitter as it moves in the water. Children are active, creative and enthusiastic learners who develop the key skills and attitudes ready for school and future learning. n The childminder tunes in well to the interactions of young children. She repeats children's attempt at words correctly and speaks with a good volume and tone.
