The provision is good
The childminder provides a welcoming and homely environment where children feel safe and secure. She knows children and families very well, is aware of their interests and is able to talk to them about their family members. This supports children's well-being effectively and they are comfortable and relaxed as she plays alongside them.
p.2
The provision is good
Children behave well and play together happily. The childminder has high expectations of them and they share and take turns, with her gentle encouragement. Children regularly use good manners and respond well when asked to tidy away, for example. Older children show care and consideration towards the younger ones and include them in their play.
p.2
The provision is good
Children are confident and capable communicators. The childminder listens with interest to older children as they speak fluently about their experiences. She reminds them of past outings, which they thoroughly enjoy recounting. Younger children learn new words quickly and the childminder praises their efforts so that they become delighted with their success.

The provision is good

need to do better?
n The childminder is experienced in childcare and understands how to help children to learn through play. She makes the most of activities such as using play dough to develop learning opportunities for children of different ages and stages of development. Older children make calculations and divide up the dough as they talk about 'making halves and quarters'. The childminder encourages younger children to count their pieces of dough and develop their mathematical skills. n Children form close bonds with the childminder and each other. They receive regular reassurance and cuddles from the childminder and develop the confidence to enjoy the activities on offer. n The childminder reflects on her practice and continually makes improvements such as developing her outdoor space for children to enjoy. She provides a good range of resources overall. However, there are fewer resources that positively reflect other cultures for children to explore.
p.2

Children enjoy mixing with a wider group of children and this supports their social skills well. n Parents speak highly of the care their children receive and appreciate the childminder's hard work and professionalism. The childminder keeps them well informed about their children's progress and has regular discussions with them so that they can work together. This promotes continuity with routines such as sleeping and toilet training.
