Inspection report for children‟s home - monitoring visit: SC043814 1 SC043814

p.1

Educare Adolescent Services Limited

Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is owned by a private company. It is registered to provide care and accommodation for up to three children who have social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The home has been without a registered manager since January 2019. Since this time, a new manager took up post in February 2019 and in August 2019 withdrew his application to register with Ofsted. The registered provider is in the process of recruiting a new manager.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This children‟s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 20 June 2019, during which 10 requirements were raised. The inspector found serious failings, which included poor infection control measures that seriously compromised children‟s and staff‟s health. On 25 June 2019, Ofsted issued a suspension notice that prevents the home from operating.

p.1

This monitoring visit

A monitoring visit was conducted on 5 August 2019. The visit found that the provider had been adhering to the suspension notice. Significant improvements had been made to the home environment.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit was conducted to evaluate the progress being made by the registered provider to address the remaining shortfalls identified at the last inspection and to review the suspension notice. The provider continues to adhere to the suspension notice. No children have lived at the home since 25 June 2019.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Recruitment activity continues. At present, the home does not have a manager or enough staff to care for children.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The responsible individual has put together an action plan to address the shortfalls raised at the last inspection. At present, the majority of these remain outstanding. Inspection report for children‟s home - monitoring visit: SC043814 2 As a result of this monitoring visit, the suspension notice has been lifted. Ofsted, in agreement with the provider, has placed a condition on the home‟s registration which requires the provider to notify Ofsted before it admits children to the home. This will allow the provider time to recruit staff and make necessary improvements prior to admitting children. Ofsted will review the provider‟s readiness to open in due course.
