n The childminder has a good understanding of her role and responsibilities to protect children from harm. She has recently updated her knowledge about local child protection procedures through attendance at a training course. She knows what action to take if she has concerns about a child or another adult in the household. n The childminder has some understanding of how to keep children safe through effective risk assessment of the premises, activities and outings. However, she does not demonstrate an understanding of the requirement to record the hours of attendance for children in her care. n The childminder is unable to provide a current paediatric first-aid certificate to confirm that the required training has been completed. n The childminder understands the importance of obtaining information about children's capabilities and starting points when children first attend. n The childminder demonstrates a secure understanding of how children learn and

how to use what she knows about children to provide varied experiences for them based on their abilities and interests. n The childminder understands the benefits of working in partnership with parents, carers and any other provisions the children may attend to help children to develop. She demonstrates knowledge of the requirement to complete a progress check for children aged between two and three years. She is also aware of the requirement to provide a short, written summary of children's development in the prime areas of learning to share with parents. n The childminder has appropriate arrangements in place to share knowledge and practice, and to ensure continuity for children if working with another childminder. n The childminder does not demonstrate an understanding of the requirement to record information about each child in her care so that their individual care needs can be met and she can act in an emergency.

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
