need to do better?

n The childminder plans many exciting activities. She carefully thinks about how to build on what children already know and can do. For example, children are keen to explore the new household items they bought with her at the local shop. They are curious about the different textures of the various brushes, feathers and cooking utensils. The childminder skilfully describes their colour, shape and surface. The children laugh as they touch and smell the items. They happily blow the feathers to see how high they can go. n The childminder uses her observations of the children's learning well. She accurately monitors their progress and uses this information to identify what she can teach children next. However, sometimes, she does not make changes to the activity when children begin to show less interest. n Children enjoy their visits to the weekly market. They look at and smell the different fresh foods and cooked meals on the various stalls. The childminder
