The managers are supporting the staff through change and helping them to understand the underpinning regulations and quality standards. This has been achieved through focused team meetings, staff supervision meetings and observation of their practice.

Children’s plans are clear and up to date. Staff have improved the recording practice and systems in relation to the health needs of children. They liaise with healthcare professionals to ensure that health information is well informed and current. The staff no longer handwrite notes on health records when changes have occurred but instead liaise with medical professionals to ensure that written guidance is on file. Targets have been redesigned. They are now more realistic and achievable in the context of children’s daily lives. Written and photographic evidence of children’s progress in relation to their targets is now captured in the daily records.

p.2

and young people since the most recent full inspection

New monitoring systems enable leaders and managers to oversee practice and make continuous improvements. Senior managers have invested in extra resources, and dedicated staff are now responsible for ensuring that records are continually kept up to date.

p.2

and young people since the most recent full inspection

Leaders and managers have reviewed the home’s statement of purpose. This was done in consultation with staff and parents and, as a result, it now accurately reflects the service being delivered. The revised version was sent to Ofsted as required.

p.2

and young people since the most recent full inspection

All staff have now received training in the underpinning model of care that is linked to the behaviour management strategy. This has developed their understanding of the difference between restraint and intervention. Children’s plans have also been updated to include the strategies permitted when supporting them. Records are much clearer and reflect the type and nature of this support, and children are now debriefed following incidents, which are then signed off by managers. Information about this inspection

Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the difference made to the lives of children and young people. They watched how professional staff work with children and young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care provided. Wherever possible, they talked to children and young people and their families. In addition, the inspectors have tried to understand what the children’s home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people whom it is trying to help, protect and look after.
