p.3
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: outstanding
The young person said, ‘This is by far the best care home I’ve lived in. When I first came to the home, I didn’t want to stay. But I can now say that this is the best care home I’ve been in. In my opinion, this is an outstanding home. That’s because staff care and have done a lot for me.’
p.3
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: outstanding
The staff are supportive, responsive and attuned to the young person’s needs. Because of this, the young person has become happier, healthier, safer and less likely to engage in risk-taking behaviour, such as antisocial behaviour, going missing from home and exploitation.
p.3
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: outstanding
The registered manager and staff have created a warm, comfortable family atmosphere. The warmth of the relationships is evident throughout the home. p.3
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: outstanding
When the young person first arrived at the home, he was not attending school. However, staff worked hard to secure appropriate education. They worked with the relevant agencies to ensure that the right placement was sought at the earliest opportunity. He has recently achieved excellent GCSE results and is now ready to work towards a higher qualification in his chosen career pathway.
p.3

The quality of the care provided, and the experiences offered, has enriched the young person’s life. Recently, the young person and staff team enjoyed a holiday in Turkey, where they had opportunities to try lots of new things. Similarly, birthdays and seasonal activities are all celebrated. This ensures that important events are never forgotten.

p.4
How well children and young people are helped and protected: outstanding
A great emphasis is placed on helping the young person to reduce risk-taking behaviour and to become safer. This is achieved through daily discussions and individual sessions. This learning guides staff practice and further protects the young person.
p.4
How well children and young people are helped and protected: outstanding
Professionals speak highly of the service, the quality of care and the ability to promote the young person’s safety and well-being. One professional said: ‘When X [young person’s name] arrived at the home, he had a negative view of care and was quite angry and frustrated. But staff took time to build trust with him and he now has a positive view of care and feels safe and secure. Before moving to this home, X was at risk of CSE [child sexual exploitation] with episodes of going missing, but this has been reduced and sustained due to the time and effort spent by staff.’
