Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an extensive knowledge of child protection procedures. She is confident about how to identify and respond to potential concerns. She takes the best care of children and pays close attention to their welfare. Highly effective steps are taken to ensure children are kept safe. That said, she recognises that they need opportunities to develop the skills associated with managing risks and making informed judgements for themselves. For example, before going on outings, she includes children in identifying the possible dangers and what they need to do to avoid these. The childminder establishes close links with parents, and they are well informed about children's care, learning and progress. However, through her own evaluation, she has identified that this is an area that she wants to develop even further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder provides just the right amount of challenge so that children are excited by learning and make rapid rates of progress from their different starting points. She teaches confidently, expertly and enthusiastically. For example, to ensure that children become effective early writers, there are lots of activities such as different tools to use in the sand and paintbrushes to help strengthen their writing grip. This helps them to master the control of a pencil. A wide range of materials are used to develop children's reading skills and promote their enjoyment of books. Children are captivated as they listen to their favourite stories, such as 'The Runaway Pea'. They enthusiastically join in with the storytelling, making predictions about what might happen next and offering solutions to the pea's predicaments. The childminder raises children's knowledge of numbers and letters. She plays games that challenge them to count, sort and identify

numbers, and encourages them to look for numbers and letters in the environment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children spend a great deal of their time outdoors. This provides a multitude of learning experiences as well as benefits to their health. For example, they learn to manage uneven heights, conditions and surfaces, which helps to develop their coordination and balancing skills. Additionally, enjoyable yoga sessions enhance children's flexibility, strength, coordination and body awareness. Walks and outings to open spaces and nature reserves help children to learn about, respect and appreciate the wonders of nature and the world in which they live. Activities and discussions help children to respect people from different backgrounds and cultures, and appreciate diversity.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make excellent progress and demonstrate many skills that are typically above those expected for their age. They have an extremely positive attitude to learning and are highly motivated and enthusiastic about all that they do. They are curious and inquisitive and challenge the childminder with nearly as many questions as she asks them. They demonstrate impressive self-care, control and independence from a very early age. For example, they manage care routines by themselves and help to prepare their snack by carefully cutting fruit. They respond willingly when asked to help with tasks, such as tidying up.
