Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The management team and staff have an excellent knowledge of the signs of possible abuse and the procedures to follow if concerned about a child's safety or welfare. There are exemplary procedures in place for staff recruitment and induction to ensure that all staff are suitable to work with children. The inspirational management team leads by example and monitors staff extremely closely. For example, managers support staff to review their work and provide ongoing support and training which builds on their expertise, skills and knowledge in early years practice. This significantly contributes to the outstanding quality of teaching and continuous improvements. Parents comment their children thrive at the nursery and make excellent progress.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff make excellent use of detailed assessments to ensure that they provide high levels of challenge. They use their teaching skills exceptionally well to meet the needs of individual children. For example, children show incredible imagination and work as a team to build dens. They clip materials together using clothes pegs. This helps to develop their fine muscles in preparation for early writing, in particular for those children that prefer physical play, such as in the garden. There are plans to continue developing the outdoor learning environment to benefit children even further. Children have inspiring opportunities to experience new things and are extremely willing to give things a go. For example, toddlers roll objects down guttering and know which items will roll down easily. They make predictions at a young age and work out how to move objects that are stuck. Staff support children's communication and language skills extremely

well. For example, staff animatedly talk to babies and toddlers and repeat single words and phrases. They read favourite books with children, are highly energetic and bring the stories to life. Older children discuss the changing properties of ice with genuine interest. They solve problems and consider the best ways to melt the ice to free what is inside.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children benefit from the freshly prepared nutritious meals and snacks. They are learning to eat healthily and grow vegetables, which they use in the nursery. Children show excellent motivation in their learning. For example, they find a variety of materials, such as planks and crates, and skilfully create climbing and balancing structures. Staff use opportunities such as these to foster children's understanding of personal safety. Babies and younger children explore resources to stimulate their senses and exploratory play and love to splash in water and foam. All children consistently receive praise and encouragement and take great pride in their achievements.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children show a high level of control when using resources and equipment and pay great attention to detail. They develop an excellent understanding of letters and sounds and skilfully write their name. Children count with confidence and are learning to add and subtract. They develop a vast array of knowledge and high levels of well-being that supports their readiness for school.
