Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge and understanding of safeguarding matters. She ensures that her assistants are suitable to work with children and have secure safeguarding knowledge. The childminder has a good understanding of the early years foundation stage. She continually reviews her assistants' performance and helps them to gain the required knowledge and skills to deliver good-quality teaching and care. The childminder has built positive relationships with parents. They report that they are happy with the services provided and receive regular information about their children's progress and care from the childminder. However, the childminder does not always ensure that she is clear about her healthy eating policy so that parents always bring healthy food for their children in order to fully support their understanding of healthy lifestyles.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows all children well. She regularly observes children and takes into account their needs and interests when planning for their next steps. For example, babies enjoy singing time, while older children enjoy painting activities. Occasionally, babies do not have opportunities to join in with messy activities to help them explore further. The childminder ensures children develop good communication and language skills and are able to think for themselves. For example, she asks children questions and waits for their response. The childminder ensures children are active inside and outside. For example, they make dance movements and enjoy walks in the fresh air.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
All children are settled and happy. The childminder uses information gathered from parents effectively to help children settle and adjust to her care. The childminder helps children to understand the boundaries and be kind to each other. She regularly praises children for their efforts and achievements, which helps to raise their self-esteem. The childminder regularly visits local parks and the library with children. This helps them gain an understanding of their local community and the wider world.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children develop the key skills needed for school and their next stages in life. Children have a lot of opportunities to learn self-help skills and become independent. For example, on return from their walk, children take their shoes off and are encouraged to put them away. Children gain early mathematical skills and learn how to count and recognise numbers.
