n The childminder has developed effective partnership working with parents. She provides them with updates on their child's learning and they discuss how to work together with children's next steps, such as weaning. n The childminder plans regular outings for the children to learn more about their local community. For example, they attend a music club and visit local parks. Books are borrowed from the library and these are taken home so parents can help children with their reading skills. n The childminder supports children's early mathematical understanding, such as helping to count birthday candles put in a pretend birthday cake made of dough. n The childminder supports children to settle in her care by offering sessions tailored to the child's needs. This contributes to children's sense of security and belonging. n Children of the youngest age make good progress in all areas of learning based on their starting points and their age and stage of development.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure awareness and understanding of safeguarding procedures. She is clear about the indicators that may alert her to any concerns and knows the procedures she must follow. The childminder attends a wide range of training opportunities to develop and improve her knowledge. She introduces new approaches to continually increase the opportunities she provides for children. For example, after attending a webinar on children's language, the childminder has significantly improved how she supports children's speech and communication skills. She also meets with a network of local childminders to share ideas and discuss good practice. The childminder evaluates her service effectively, including seeking the views of parents. Parents report that they are very happy with the provision, stating that the childminder keeps them regularly updated about what new skills their children have learned.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is particularly skilled at supporting children's language and communication skills. Children achieve well and make good progress in all areas of learning. The childminder creates a stimulating environment throughout her home. The outside area is particularly exciting and children keenly explore various resources that the childminder has linked to their current interests. Babies have regular opportunities to practise their physical skills. For instance, they spend time laying on their tummy and enjoy exploring a play mat containing water and shiny objects. The childminder makes regular observations of the children and assesses their abilities to ensure they continue to make the best possible progress. The childminder enables children to regularly practise their mark-making and early writing skills. They enjoy using chalk to draw on the patio outside.
