This provision is good
n The childminder provides children with a homely environment to play and learn in. She gathers information about children's interests and care needs and makes good use of this information to support children when they first start. This helps children to feel secure, happy and to settle well. n Children display extremely positive behaviour from an early age. They learn about caring for others, being polite and sharing. The childminder encourages children to make their own 'promises' for conduct. This helps children to understand expectations for their behaviour. n The childminder develops secure working relationships with parents. She shares meaningful information with them about their child's development. Parents are equally keen to share their children's achievements from home. The childminder uses this information to help plan future activities for children. n Observations and assessments of children's learning and development are precise. The

This provision is good
childminder is fully aware of children's abilities and how to best support them in making further progress. She carefully monitors any gaps in learning and provides targeted support to aid learning. Children are making rapid progress from their starting points. n The childminder supports children's physical development well. She takes them on trips to local parks and for walks in the community. This helps children to develop their small- and large-muscle skills and receive daily fresh air. n The childminder does not focus on self-evaluation enough to help drive forward change and identify targeted areas for improvements, or seek the views of others.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of child protection and the signs, symptoms and indicators of abuse and neglect. She is aware of the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child in her care. The childminder shares information with parents about safeguarding procedures and her responsibility to report concerns. The childminder is highly qualified and uses this knowledge to help her provide educational activities. She fully understands the different ways in which children learn. The childminder supports children's transitions well. She develops relationships with local schools and other early years providers to help children feel at ease and embrace the change. For example, children visit their new environments with the childminder for fun activities, such as summer fairs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are supported in their early development and learning extremely well. They display good mathematical skills, matching and recognising numbers. Children enjoy counting out pompoms of different size and colour using tweezers. The childminder asks children how many they have and what 'two less' would be. This helps to support children's developing understanding of addition and subtraction. Children are confident communicators. The childminder encourages children to talk to each other, ask questions and actively listen to their peers. This is evident as children discuss their parents' job roles and explore the details of their daily routines. The childminder has introduced activities to aid children in learning about the world. She talks to the children about recycling and growing their own fruit and vegetables. This helps children to build a natural respect and understanding of their environment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are self-assured and independent. They are happy to play within groups and also individually. The childminder respects children's individual needs and adapts her practice, as required. For example, the childminder engages children in play and gives space for independent learning. Consistent praise and encouragement help to raise children's confidence and emotional security. The childminder provides children with a varied diet and supports them in making good choices for their health. She encourages children to help prepare for meals. For instance, children use safety knives to cut fruit and vegetables. They assist in serving meals and engage in conversation about how foods are sourced.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn all the necessary skills for future learning and their eventual move to school. They confidently tend to their own care and hygiene routines and display great belief in their actions. Children are emotionally secure and enjoy strong relationships with their peers and familiar adults. They embrace learning and are keen to develop new skills and gather knowledge. For example, they eagerly seek explanations to ideas generated from their play. This is evidenced as children question why do cars not fly and explore how they could make it happen. This shows a thirst for new ideas and creative imaginations.
