This is a provision that requires improvement
n The quality of teaching is not consistently good. The childminder does not ensure that assistants take children's age and stage of development into account when providing activities. For example, babies do not take part in a painting activity with the older children and an alternative activity provided does not engage their interests well. n The childminder does not ensure that all assessments of children's development are accurate enough to provide a full picture of their development over time, to always plan sharply focused activities for their progress. n The outdoor area is not well organised. There are some broken toys and resources that the children cannot access safely. Because of this, children cannot always explore outdoor areas freely to follow their own choices as well as they are able to indoors.
p.1
It has the following strengths
n Parents report that they are happy with the service the childminder provides. They state that their children enjoy coming to her home and they like reading about their children's learning in regular reports. n Children settle well in the childminder's affectionate care. She and her assistants provide children with lots of reassurance to help them feel safe in the home. This supports children's emotional well-being. n The childminder has made effective partnerships with other settings that children attend to promote their continuity of care.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To meet the requirements of the early years foundation stage the provider must: Due date ensure that all adults who work with children are able to consistently provide good-quality experiences that meet their learning needs and promote their good progress; this is with particular reference to ensuring activities are suitably adapted when babies are taking part 30/08/2019

ensure that assessments of children's learning are consistently sharply focused on what they have achieved to enable adults to plan the most relevant next steps for each child. 30/08/2019

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further
n The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. n The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. She observed a planned activity and jointly evaluated this with the childminder. n The inspector discussed children's learning and development with the childminder and reviewed required policies and other records, including evidence of the suitability of persons working with the children. n The inspector spoke to parents whose children attend the setting to gather their views about the service the childminder provides.
p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management requires improvement
The childminder recognises that there are still some aspects of teaching that need to improve for children to achieve good outcomes. She has provided some training for her assistants but is aware that this has not yet led to consistently good teaching. All required documentation to promote children's health is now in place, such as records of accidents and medication administered to children. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have attended relevant training since the last inspection. Their knowledge of child protection matters and risk assessment has improved to promote children's safety.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
The quality of teaching is not consistently good. While the childminder demonstrates effective teaching skills and interacts well with the children in her care, she has not ensured that her assistants do the same. For example, they do not always engage babies' interests well when taking part in a larger group activity, such as painting. Children enjoy some activities that meet their needs. For example, older children explore a box of exciting dressing-up clothes. Boys and girls enjoy putting on rings and bracelets and trying on a range of headdresses. This helps them to explore their creativity and develop their hand control. Children enjoy using a tablet computer to look up a range of different foods to see whether they are healthy. However, assistants do not always use accessible language to help children understand instructions, and sometimes make activities too complex for the age of the children taking part.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
The childminder has made some changes to improve the safety and suitability of her home since the last inspection. Children enjoy exploring the wide range of toys indoors. However, the outdoor space is not as well organised, so children cannot always make independent choices about what they want to play with. Behaviour is managed well. Children are learning how to get on with others and older children understand what is expected of them. Babies are learning how to be kind to others. For example, the childminder reminds them to be gentle when playing together. The childminder takes children on lots of walks to explore the local community. This helps them learn about different people in the world around them.
p.3
Outcomes for children require improvement
Children are generally reaching the expected levels of development in line with their age and stage. However, some weaknesses in the quality of teaching mean their development is not rapid. Children are learning speaking skills. Younger babies babble and copy recognisable expressions, such as 'uh oh'. Older children are able to speak with confidence. They talk to adults about things they like and dislike and share their feelings, thoughts and ideas. Overall children are developing skills that will support their future learning, including at school.
