This provision is outstanding
n The childminder works extremely closely with families to ensure she fully understands children's backgrounds and any factors that may affect children's well-being or progress. She looks for the root of any behaviour and plans highly focused actions to tackle this. For example, she supports parents hugely and helps them to learn more about their roles in parenthood. n Children make excellent progress from their starting points. When gaps in children's progress are identified, the childminder uses her meticulous assessment systems to pinpoint precisely where additional support is needed. She provides highly focused interventions to ensure children achieve the goals she sets them, and they rapidly meet the expected outcomes for their ages. n The childminder successfully promotes positive attitudes towards healthy foods. For instance, she engages children in considering how she can help them to eat a wider

variety of food. The childminder ensures children develop a deep understanding of how to keep themselves safe. Children demonstrate this when they make risk assessments and tell the childminder how to safely use the sharp knife she is using. n The childminder manages her assistants extremely well. She continually supports them to develop their practice and to extend their knowledge and skills in areas where they would like to learn more. As a result, assistants are highly motivated and teach with the same high level of skill and expertise demonstrated by the childminder. n Children develop high levels of independence. They show great confidence as they make their own choices about the snack they eat or the activities they engage in. Children develop greatly in their self-confidence. Those who were once quiet and shy eagerly try new experiences and voice their opinions in loud and clear voices.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder demonstrates a very strong understanding of the signs that may indicate that a child's welfare is at risk. She knows precisely how to act to protect children from harm. She successfully ensures that her assistants are equally knowledgeable and vigilant. The childminder evaluates incisively to consider ways to further improve practice. She researches and extends her knowledge to help her make highly effective changes. For example, she has recently tested out different ways of planning and has successfully implemented a system that has enabled her to enhance children's engagement levels even more. The childminder strives to ensure very high levels of continuity by sharing information with staff in the other settings children attend. However, she aims to make this a less challenging task.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder demonstrates excellent teaching skills to ensure every part of the daily routine becomes a rich learning experience. For example, when children choose to have a watermelon for snack, the childminder uses this as a wonderful opportunity to extend their learning. The children carry the watermelon and use vocabulary linked to weight and measure. The childminder provokes great curiosity in children who eagerly make predictions about what the watermelon will look like inside. The childminder installs in children skills that prepare them extremely well for their future learning. These include ensuring children learn to recognise their own names and providing them with excellent opportunities to develop their hand strength in preparation for future writing. For example, toddlers thread fruit onto a kebab skewer in a very controlled manner.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder develops extremely strong relationships with the children. Children and their families feel hugely welcome in the home, and they demonstrate this when they talk very fondly about the childminder's family. The childminder acts as an excellent role model to children and conveys high levels of positivity in her interactions with them. This shows in her behaviour management technique and is met with impeccable behaviour from children. For example, her methods for reminding children about table manners are met with beautiful manners from children and a chorus of pleases and thank yous. The childminder hugely values children's views and opinions. She allows them frequent opportunities to talk about what they like and don't like and to consider why. Children learn highly important values, such as the importance of respecting other's opinions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make excellent progress in their personal, social and emotional development to ensure they can manage changes that occur, such as moving on to school. They demonstrate fantastic social skills, with older children allowing younger children to join in with their play and initiating conversations with them. Children, including those who speak more than one language, develop speech rapidly. Toddlers widen their vocabularies through new experiences and activities including frequent singing sessions and quickly learn to put words together to form sentences. Older children speak eloquently as they discuss their findings as they test out their ideas in play.
