p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is inadequate
There are significant concerns about the childminder's ability to meet the requirements of the early years foundation stage. The childminder has failed to make improvements since the last inspection. These repeated weaknesses have a negative impact on the safety and welfare of children. Safeguarding is not effective. Risk assessments are not rigorous. The childminder fails to recognise or minimise hazards to children. For example, children can access sharp knives and other potentially dangerous objects in different areas of the home. The childminder does not keep a written record of accidents or injuries sustained by children. This means that parents are not adequately informed, and compromises children's safety and welfare. The childminder has attended some training, such as first aid, and has received guidance from the local authority adviser. However, weaknesses still remain in her knowledge and understanding of how to

promote children's all-round development. The childminder does not reflect on her provision in order to identify and address serious weaknesses in her practice. The childminder has improved her knowledge of the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect. She has updated her knowledge of the 'Prevent' duty guidance. She maintains an accurate record of the children's attendance and ensures a first-aid kit is accessible at all times.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The childminder does not observe, assess or plan for children's individual development. This means that she does not have an accurate view about what children need to learn next. She is not able to identify and act on any gaps in learning. The childminder has not established effective links with other settings attended by children. As a result, children do not benefit from continuity of care and the childminder is not fully informed to ensure children's individual needs are consistently met. She provides some suitable activities to help children to develop their understanding of the world. Children enjoy playing hide and seek with their friends.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Children's welfare is not promoted due to significant weaknesses in safeguarding practice. The childminder does not supervise children adequately. Children run out of her sight towards a busy road. Other children in her care wander without supervision into the woods. However, children are relaxed and settled in the childminder's care. They readily engage her in conversations and discussions. Children proudly share their achievements with the childminder. Children benefit from fresh air and exercise. However, hygiene practices are poor. The childminder does not follow good handwashing routines to ensure children's health is promoted.
p.3
Outcomes for children are inadequate
Weaknesses in teaching mean that children do not make the best possible progress in their learning. They do not acquire the skills they need to support them in their future learning, including moving on to school. However, they are developing their social skills. Children engage in conversations with the childminder and their friends during mealtimes.
