This provision is outstanding

n Children thrive in the care of the dedicated and nurturing childminder, who consistently prioritises children's safety and well-being at all times. Children settle quickly and demonstrate that they feel safe and secure. They establish strong bonds with the childminder. n The childminder forms excellent partnerships with parents and carers, through which she ensures high levels of continuity for the children. For example, she develops an in- depth insight into children's interests and achievements in the home and builds on these further to ensure children are challenged effectively. Parents comment that, 'Children make excellent progress in her care and through the vast range of activities resources and experiences she provides'. n The quality of teaching is truly inspirational. The childminder intuitively makes the most of every opportunity to extend children's learning. She has high expectations of what

children can achieve. Children are highly motivated to learn, keen to explore and eagerly join in with activities. They make excellent rates of progress. n The childminder completes detailed observations of children's learning and plans what they should do next. She shares this information with parents and encourages them to extend their children's learning at home through initiatives such as the 'reading owl', where the childminder shares books with parents. n Children display exceptionally high levels of confidence and independence, and develop very positive attitudes and behaviour. For example, they consistently follow the setting's rules and develop close friendships with others. They willingly welcome other children into their play and actively take turns to share the resources.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder demonstrates exceptional knowledge of government guidance and legislation. She regularly attends training to develop her strong safeguarding knowledge further. The childminder confidently knows the procedures to follow if she has a concern about a child's safety. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder uses insightful self- evaluation to expertly reflect on her practice and set challenging action plans for ongoing improvement. An incisive professional development programme builds on her already excellent teaching, skills and knowledge effectively. For example, she accesses webinars and attends local authority and childminding network meetings. The childminder recognises the importance of continuously striving to find even more ways to maintain the firmly established, outstanding quality of provision.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children benefit significantly from the childminder's extremely sensitive and highly engaging manner. She is highly successful in her teaching as she talks to children about what they are doing, and she extends their vocabulary by using descriptive words as they play. Children explore with tweezers as they take the carrots from the soil after a favourite story about a rabbit, and the childminder skilfully incorporates mathematics as they count and start to use simple calculations. The childminder understands how children learn and she plans activities to promote their interest and extend their learning. She makes exceptional use of the observations and ongoing assessments of children's activities and learning. She uses the information gathered, alongside details from parents, to plan excellent activities that provide children with suitable challenges. This contributes to them being able to continue to build on what they already know.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children thrive in the childminder's care. The superb settling-in procedures enable children to settle quickly and build strong friendships with the childminder and their peers. The childminder is extremely kind and patient and provides an outstanding role model for children. Children's behaviour is exemplary and they understand the impact of their actions on each other. The childminder provides children with stimulating spaces where they feel confident to practise and develop their physical skills. All children learn how to prepare food. They are encouraged to cut their own fruit and make choices about square or triangle sandwiches at lunchtime. Children routinely enjoy rich and varied outings in the local community and beyond as they visit groups and the local theatre. This provides them with the opportunity to experience live performances and drama. Children explore and appreciate their natural environment. In the garden, they
