This provision is good
n The childminder has worked hard to address actions raised at her previous inspection. She demonstrates a committed and dedicated attitude to improve the quality of service she provides. n The childminder and her assistants know the children extremely well. They use their expert knowledge of the curriculum, alongside their sharply focused observations of children, to plan an extensive array of activities and experiences that fully promote all aspects of children's development. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make significant progress from their starting points. n Children are highly motivated and keen learners who demonstrate a thirst for knowledge. They excitedly explore the vibrant learning environments, both indoors and outside. For example, children describe the smell and texture of the herbs growing in the garden. Additionally, they follow their own ideas as they mix these with water to

make 'soup'. n The childminder and her assistants are terrific at supporting children's social and communication skills. They know when to intervene and when to give children freedom to express themselves. They make the most of opportunities to challenge children and widen their vocabulary and understanding. For example, staff explain to children that a group of fish is called a 'school'. n Although the childminder and her assistants have attended many courses to support their teaching practice, more can be done to ensure that they all have a robust understanding of wider safeguarding issues, particularly the 'Prevent' duty. n More can be made of lunchtime routines to extend children's knowledge and understanding of the benefits of making healthy food choices.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The highly-qualified and experienced childminder works tirelessly with her assistants, parents and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children. The childminder was part of an expert panel that devised a framework to help children and parents with the move to formal schooling. The childminder uses self-evaluation to identify areas of weakness in her practice and quickly puts action plans in place to address these. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants are aware of the signs of possible abuse and neglect and know what action to take should they have any concerns. Recruitment and vetting procedures are robust. Effective risk assessments are in place and there is a strong focus on helping to keep children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder and her assistants have high expectations for each child. Children demonstrate their active imaginations and profound literacy skills as they use available resources, such as pens and paper, to take orders in the role-play restaurant. The childminder significantly enhances children's play as she skilfully interacts by pretending to be a customer. She asks pertinent questions that further extend children's communication and language skills. For example, she asks them what toppings are on the pizza and asks them to describe the smell of the soup. She extends children's mathematical skills as she talks about concepts, such as 'tall' and 'short', and encourages children to count and predict measurements. For instance, they discuss what size pan will be needed to make enough soup for all the children. Toddlers actively explore using all of their senses. They enjoy the tactile experience of splashing in water, smelling herbs

and feeling water and sand as it runs through their fingers.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The extremely kind and considerate childminder and her assistants are excellent role models for children. They treat all children with fairness and respect. They build strong bonds from the outset with children and their families. Children behave extremely well, given their age and stage of development. Children are beginning to show an appreciation for their own, and other's, safety. For example, they check that no children are in the way before they use the skipping ropes. Children demonstrate their developing understanding of livings things as they remind the childminder to water the herbs and explain how this helps them to grow.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make significant progress from their starting points and are gaining the skills needed for future learning and school. They are highly articulate and have excellent listening and attention skills. Children enthusiastically take part in all activities and make valuable contributions. Children have excellent social skills. They are extremely polite and well mannered. Children relish the opportunity to do things for themselves and display high levels of self-confidence and self-esteem.
