This provision is good
n The childminder checks the progress that children make in their learning. She plans appealing activities and experiences that help them to build on what they already know and can do. This contributes to the good progress they make in their learning. n Children are enthusiastic learners who make choices and lead their own play with confidence. They are keen to participate and eagerly share their experiences with their friends. They demonstrate a positive attitude that prepares them well for later learning. n The childminder has a warm and caring approach that children respond to positively. Children form strong bonds with her and are very at ease in her care. Parents consistently comment on her cheery personality. They say she is 'always in good spirits' and they are greeted by her 'smiling face'. n Children's behaviour is good. The childminder has an extremely positive approach and encourages them to consider the needs of others and to be kind and polite. Children

show high levels of pride and self-esteem when the childminder offers them praise and celebrates their achievements with them. n The childminder has developed effective partnerships that help to support children's ongoing development. Parents are involved in assessments from the outset, and information is shared with the nurseries that children attend. This helps to provide a consistent approach to their care and learning. n The childminder has not considered ways to support children's early writing skills even more effectively and promote their learning in literacy to the highest levels. n The childminder does not consistently help children to develop a deeper understanding of how to keep themselves safe and healthy.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of the signs of possible abuse and knows what to do if she is concerned about a child's welfare. Self- evaluation is effective and supports the childminder to identify ways to improve her practice. For instance, she has improved the ways she shares information with parents after listening to their suggestions. The childminder continues to build on her experience and knowledge. She has effective arrangements in place for the support and supervision of her assistant. She supports her to extend her skills, which contributes to the strong capacity for ongoing improvements to the quality of children's care, learning and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy their learning. The childminder is attentive and gets very involved in their play. Adult-led activities are appealing and enjoyable, which helps children to be interested and motivated to learn. They demonstrate very good levels of attention and concentrate as they play and learn. The childminder promotes children's developing mathematical skills well. For example, they count and compare pieces of fruit while they make fruit kebabs. They discuss shape and size as they roll out dough for a pizza base. The childminder is a skilled communicator and supports children's language development well. Children are confident speakers who ask questions, take part in discussions and share their thoughts and ideas.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a welcoming and inclusive environment that helps children to develop a strong sense of belonging. For example, they are keen to show their pictures that are displayed on the wall. Children benefit from plenty of fresh air and exercise that contributes to their good physical health. The childminder provides healthy, balanced meals and parents are complimentary about her efforts to ensure that children's dietary requirements are met meticulously. The childminder encourages children to help with small tasks, such as setting up and clearing away after activities. Children are keen to help and they develop good levels of independence. They cooperate during these tasks. For example, during a cooking activity, they work together to carry a tray of ingredients without spilling anything.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children achieve the levels of development that are typical for their age range. Those who are slower to make progress in some areas of learning benefit from tailored teaching that helps them to catch up. For example, children who are below expectations in some aspects of their communication and language development catch up quickly. The childminder is mindful of supporting children to be ready for when they move on to school. She supports them well to develop early skills in mathematics and most aspects of literacy. For example, children show an avid interest during story times, which helps them to develop some early reading skills. They make good progress in all areas of mathematics.
