They feel their children are making good progress in their development and are being well prepared for their future learning. n The childminder provides a range of enjoyable and engaging activities that capture children's interests and promote their physical development and social skills well. For example, children laugh with the childminder as they throw and catch balloons while trying not to let them touch the ground.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management requires improvement
The childminder has a safeguarding policy in place. However, this does not meet the requirements of the Childcare Register. The policy does not refer to the correct LSCB. This means the childminder is not aware of some of the procedures to follow to meet the LSCB's requirements. Despite this, the arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is aware of how to identify children who may be at risk of harm, including those who may be at risk of harm from extreme views or behaviours. The childminder considers the appropriateness of the resources she provides for children and makes sure these are safe and suitable. However, she does not complete a thorough risk assessment of all areas of the home used by children. She has failed to identify the potential risk of children being able to access a low-level fridge in the kitchen area of her home.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows how to observe and assess children. She uses this information to plan experiences to support children's learning. The childminder encourages children's language development well. She shares books with the children, who delight in using puppets to retell the story. Children are developing a good sense of number and can count and recognise numbers that are attractively displayed within the environment. However, at times, the childminder does not challenge children in their learning. For example, when children count the pieces of banana they have cut for snack, the childminder does not provide opportunities for children to extend their mathematical awareness further. The childminder takes children on regular trips in the local community and wider areas. Children experience bus journeys and visit farms, parks and indoor play areas. This increases children's understanding about the world they live in.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
The childminder does not promote children's safety in her home fully as she has not minimised potential risks to children in all areas that they use. This does not have a significant impact. Children develop a good sense of how to keep themselves safe when they are outside the childminder's home. During outings, children wear high-visibility jackets and know they need to stay close to the childminder. They demonstrate that they understand road safety on their walk to the school. The childminder encourages children to be independent. Children help prepare for snack and tidy up after activities. The childminder praises children when they are kind or helpful, so they learn what is expected of them. The childminder has recently accessed training to develop her knowledge of British values, including respect and tolerance. As a result, children are learning how to respect the views of others that may be different to their own.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in their learning. They can identify letters in their name and count objects. Children are confident and articulate talkers who express themselves well. They can dress themselves and organise their belongings. Children are developing the necessary skills they need in readiness for the move to school.
