The childminder has actively addressed the actions set at the last inspection. She has put in place new systems to monitor and track children's progress. The childminder uses this information effectively to develop activities that will impact positively on children's development. She has evaluated her setting and has taken part in a wide range of professional development opportunities to ensure that children make the best possible progress. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her role and responsibility to keep children safe from harm. She has built strong partnerships with other professionals and understands the importance of sharing information. Parents comment positively on the care and commitment the childminder provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder, through her continuous development, now provides a rich and diverse programme of activities for children. She supports children to develop a greater depth to their imaginative play and develop mathematical abilities. She uses skilful questioning and communication to help children learn and identify words of personal significance, such as their name. Children communicate their needs well. They show curiosity and delight as they are introduced to sensory materials, such as gloop. They show high levels of fascination as the gloop travels through their fingers. Children use the extensive range of implements provided to help develop their physical skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder develops close bonds with the children in her care. Children develop confidence and self-esteem to try new activities and explore new environments. The childminder encourages children to follow good personal hygiene routines. She helps children to become independent and ready for their next stage of learning. Children benefit from a wide range of healthy food and snacks that the childminder freshly prepares each day. The childminder is in the process of transforming her outdoor space after taking into consideration the children's views and wishes. Together, they have designed a 'fairy garden' and purchased plants ready to be put into the space created. The childminder encourages children to learn outdoors and they benefit greatly from these experiences.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points and develop the skills they need for their future learning. They enjoy books from a young age and can access them easily and independently. Children develop their small-muscle skills and hand-to-eye coordination as they carefully pick items out of the gloop.
