p.1
This provision is inadequate
n The childminder and her assistant do not successfully implement their child protection procedures. They do not ensure that they obtain and share information with parents and other professionals to safeguard children and maintain their welfare. n Risk assessment is not effective. The childminder and her assistant do not ensure that all areas of the premises remain suitable for children's use, particularly outdoors. n The childminder does not make sure her assistants are confident in all areas of their roles and responsibilities. n Occasionally, the childminder and her assistant do not organise activities sufficiently well to ensure children remain engaged in their learning.
p.1
It has the following strengths
n The childminder successfully uses the information from her observations and assessments to help identify children's next stage in learning. Children make progress that is appropriate for their age and are well prepared for their move to school. n The childminder takes children to local groups and parks, which helps them learn about similarities and differences around them.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is inadequate
Safeguarding is not effective. The childminder and her assistant know the signs that would cause them concern about a child's welfare and the processes to follow. However, they do not act quickly and liaise with the appropriate agencies to help protect children from harm. The childminder does not gather and share integral information with parents and other professionals to help ensure the effective management of the setting, and ensure that children's well-being is supported. The childminder does not make sure that her assistants are proficient in every aspect of their work. She does not ensure they are confident to implement her safeguarding procedures. The childminder does not make sure that they have adequate insurance in place to transport children safely in a car. However, they took prompt action to put this in place.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes regular accurate assessments of children's progress and monitors their development well. She identifies effectively any gaps in development early and provides the right support to fully build their skills. The childminder successfully encourages children's mathematical skills, such as counting objects. The childminder and her assistant develop babies' physical development and early social abilities well. For instance, they support them to stand at an activity with other children as they play. Children decide what activities they would like to use next, which helps them learn that their views are of value and important. The childminder and her assistant ask questions to help children think for themselves and test their ideas. For example, they explore what happens to a boat when it is upside down in the water. The childminder and her assistant, sometimes, do not fully consider the organisation of activities to help keep

children's concentration and extend their learning even further.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
The childminder and her assistant do not identify and minimise all hazards in their surroundings. They do not ensure that the garden is continually clean and suitable for children's use. For example, they do not make sure that dog faeces are removed efficiently, and they do not prevent dogs from urinating over outdoor toys. The childminder and her assistant do not promptly stop dogs from drinking from and jumping into the water activity where children play. This does not support children's physical health and well-being. Risk assessment was an action raised at previous visits, which demonstrates that the childminder's capacity to sustain any previous improvements is weak. The childminder and her assistant encourage children to share and take turns, which helps them understand how to manage their own behaviour.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. They are happy and enjoy their time with the childminder. They express themselves through movement and music. For example, they spin around playing with bubbles and enthusiastically sing to their favourite songs. Children develop good hand-to-eye coordination. For example, they tip and pour water with control. They help at mealtimes and take food to the table, which successfully encourages their independence in readiness for their future learning.
