This provision is outstanding
n The childminder uses innovative ways to help the children learn about their environment, the wider world and their small island community. For example, they participate in 'Plastic Free Scilly'. Children help with beach clearing and understand how this has an impact on the environment, supporting their knowledge and understanding of the world extremely well. n Children are exceptionally confident and motivated in their learning. They are eager to try new activities, learning an extensive range of new skills. For example, children concentrate excellently as they very carefully dig up and separate broccoli plants. They are fascinated to learn about roots and leaves. They listen to instructions and take great care tucking the roots in as they re-pot the plants. n The childminder has highly effective systems to monitor and evaluate her practice. Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder places a high emphasis on safeguarding children and their families. She has a secure knowledge of how to identify and respond quickly to any concerns about a child's welfare. She is also confident in wider areas of safeguarding, such as identifying any children who may be at risk of harm from extreme behaviours and views. The childminder implements highly effective methods to monitor children's achievements and ensure they are making the best possible progress. She makes excellent use of any training opportunities and information gained at network meetings to help develop her practice. She works extremely closely with other early years providers on the island to improve her practice. For example, they observe the quality of each other's teaching and their engagement with children and evaluate the effect this has on children's learning. They give each other constructive feedback, which

the childminder uses very effectively to develop her excellent knowledge even further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder is extremely knowledgeable about child development and different ways that children learn. She uses this knowledge expertly to plan a rich and varied curriculum tailored to children's individual needs and preferences. She is particularly skilled at adapting her activities, to enable all children, regardless of their age and stage of development, to be fully involved. For example, she closely observes children's access and their use of materials during the planting activity to ensure even the youngest children can comfortably reach and fully participate in all aspects. The childminder uses her excellent knowledge of the children to complete meaningful observations and assessments. She very beneficially involves children and parents in planning the next stages in their development. Children are exceptionally engaged and motivated in their learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children show high levels of confidence and their emotional well-being is particularly well supported. The childminder knows the children and their families, including extended family members, exceedingly well. This enables her to talk to children about experiences relevant to them, such as where their family members work and how they help support the community. Children benefit from healthy and nutritious snacks and meals. The childminder makes mealtimes highly sociable occasions and is very successful in engaging children in lively conversations. They are extremely comfortable to share their news. However, the childminder does not make the most of opportunities to fully develop children's independence skills as much as possible.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Outcomes for children are extremely positive. They make exceptional progress in their learning and are highly motivated in everything they do. Children's mathematical skills and language development are progressing very well. For instance, they confidently count objects, recognise numbers in the environment and can match these with the appropriate number of objects. They are highly confident speakers. Children are extremely well prepared for their move to pre-school or school.
