The detailed safeguarding policy is regularly updated to ensure all information is current and relevant. The childminder has attended training recently to help ensure she is fully aware of her duty to prevent children from being drawn into extreme views. Children's progress is monitored effectively to help identify areas of development where they may need further support. Regular discussion with parents helps them to be well informed about their children's ongoing learning. They are offered guidance on how they can support their children's learning at home.

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children as they play. She provides them with purposeful and challenging activities that help them to make good progress in their learning. For example, she helps children to develop their counting and number recognition through exciting games and activities. Children use positional language, such as 'top' and 'bottom', as they roll their cars down a tube. The childminder plays alongside them, showing interest in what children have to say and encouraging them to use language confidently. She reads children's favourite stories, which helps to support their early literacy skills. Children take part in a range of activities that supports their early writing skills. For example, they enjoy making marks with large chalks on the garden path. They develop an exceptionally good understanding of the natural world and growth and development. For example, they plant seeds and discuss the life cycle of the frog.
p.3

Children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure in her care. They approach her with confidence and behave extremely well. Children have good opportunities to develop their social skills and mix with others. For example, they enjoy 'story time' at the library and regularly attend toddler groups. Children manage their packed lunches well, supporting their independence. The childminder understands young children's need for a rest or sleep during the day. Children accompany the childminder on the school run and become familiar with the school environment and teachers.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children thoroughly enjoy their time with the childminder. They benefit from the positive interactions, encouragement and support that they receive from her. Young children are eager to investigate the very good range of toys and resources available inside and outside. They build on their physical development well, such as holding a pencil with good control. Children learn about weighing and measuring when they take part in cooking activities. They share, take turns and play cooperatively together. Children make good progress in all aspects of their learning and development.
