p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her observations and assessments to ensure that children are challenged effectively to reach the next stage in their development. She supports young children's social development well, for example, by encouraging interaction during small- group activities. The childminder provides mark-making resources, such as chunky paintbrushes, sponges and corks for children to dip into dishes filled with paint. The resources are made available on a low-level table and the young children are able to freely make large movements as they enjoy the activity while standing. They notice the different marks that they make. Children communicate confidently. The childminder supports young children's emerging speaking skills well as she asks them to name toys. She repeats the sounds that they make while playing with cars, such as 'beep' and 'brumm'.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy their play in a welcoming environment. The childminder offers good support as children learn behaviour expectations, such as sharing. She promotes children's good health well. They eat healthy food which is cooked fresh daily, and they learn to manage their self-care needs. Children are physically active and they enjoy activities outdoors each day. They develop an understanding of danger and how to keep themselves safe. For example, young children learn how to climb up and down steps in the garden. A gradual settling-in procedure is agreed with parents in accordance with their child's individual needs. This helps to address children's emotional security.
p.3
