Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe. She ensures that training, including for her assistant, is up to date and relevant. The childminder puts children's safety and well-being at the centre of her work, and she understands how to report concerns to the local authority, if and when necessary. The childminder evaluates her setting accurately and monitors the work of her assistant to identify areas of practice that could be even better. The childminder makes good uses of professional development opportunities to enhance the quality of children's learning. Children respond very well to the childminder's calm and nurturing approach. The routines that are in place are well understood by all children. Children show respect and look after each other. For example, older children hold the hands of younger ones without being asked, and help them to sort out their problems, share and take turns. The childminder ensures that children have many opportunities to learn about others. They celebrate festivals, learn about different cultures and are taught to value their own heritages and those of others. The childminder plans a variety of trips and visits, such as to wildlife parks and to local playgroups, for children to learn about the world around them. Children develop strong social skills and demonstrate high levels of enjoyment. The childminder works very effectively with parents to ensure that care routines for babies are appropriate and meet their needs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
