Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a breadth of knowledge of safeguarding issues and is very clear about procedures that must be followed in the event that a concern arises about a child and how to manage an allegation. The childminder is highly motivated and exceptionally hard working in her continual drive to provide excellence in care and learning. She seeks opportunities to research and attend additional training and is highly focussed on her own professional development. She also meets regularly with other childminders to share ideas and expertise. Recently, she has identified a desire to further enhance her outdoor play provision. She has plans in place to extend her knowledge of how to promote the learning of children who prefer to play outside even further. This has an extremely positive impact on the progress that all children make and helps to enhance the activities she provides to the highest level.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder makes precise assessments of children's learning that are drawn from the detailed and informative observations that she makes as children play. She uses the information to plan specific activities to support all children to progress well towards their next stage in learning. Children are highly motivated as they take part in activities that are planned for them. For example, they are keen to identify body parts as they wash and dry dolls in a baby bath. Very young children giggle and show high levels of excitement as they are eager to splash in the water. Older children enjoy varied conversations with the childminder about what they are doing. The childminder skilfully asks questions to extend language development. She models language exceptionally well and consistently initiates two-way conversations with all children.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder is extremely warm, nurturing and kind towards children. The childminder provides a stimulating and positive atmosphere. Children settle quickly and behave exceptionally well. The childminder promotes independence skills very well. She supports children to develop their self-help skills, such as dressing and undressing and manage their toileting needs at an early age. Children show high levels of self-esteem and become fiercely independent, especially in their personal care routines. The childminder's home is spacious. Children have room to explore and develop their physical skills. For example, babies pull themselves up on furniture and use wheeled toys to support them to move about successfully. The secure outdoor space offers an excellent range of resources and apparatus for children to practise their physical skills daily.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children consistently make rapid progress. They are extremely well prepared for the next stage in learning and eventual move on to school. Babies begin to form some words in familiar songs and move in time to the rhythm. Children enjoy singing together or alone as they play. Older children enjoy role play, talking on the toy telephone and showing care and kindness as they play with their dolls. Children listen and follow instructions very well. They are able to put toys away tidily when they have finished playing.
