Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder makes good use information from professional bodies and the local authority to ensure her knowledge of child protection, including helping to protect children from radicalisation, is up to date and accurate. The childminder is vigilant and ensures that risks are minimised in her home and on the regular visits she makes with the children. The childminder is ambitious for children in her care to succeed and achieve well. She consults closely with parents, children and local authority staff to gather their views and reflect on the quality of the overall provision to support future improvements.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop. She accurately assesses children's starting points through observations and consultation with parents. The childminder makes very good use of strategies such as frequent smiles and direct eye contact, to help children feel confident and self-assured in their learning. She strongly supports children to make decisions for themselves, create their own activities and enrich their learning. For example, she joins in their role play when children are dressing up and organising jewellery and other objects to enhance their counting and sorting skills. The childminder strongly promotes children's enjoyment of stories and rhymes. She provides enticing lift-the-flap books, for example, and reads them skilfully to heighten children's anticipation and excitement.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder builds strong relationships with the children from the start. She helps them to feel safe, secure and confident. She supports children to develop an appreciation of healthy eating through, for example, providing a range of carefully planned and well-balanced snacks and regular opportunities for physical activity. She provides good support to parents for their children's toilet training and self-care. Children develop their social skills well. They learn to build close relationships with other children and collaborate well in their play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
The childminder identifies any gaps in children's achievement and takes steps to address them. Children learn to follow instructions and persist at tasks, such as building increasingly high towers with wooden blocks. Children progress well in developing their creative skills and imagination. They enjoy a wide range of songs and rhymes, and create sparkling collage pictures.
