Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has good knowledge of the 'Prevent' duty and promotes British values, including respect and tolerance, throughout her practice. The childminder's assistant is well supported with regular supervision. The childminder liaises effectively with parents who speak highly of the care, safety and learning opportunities that their children receive at the provision. Links with local schools and health professionals are a strength, particularly sharing two-year-old progress reviews, and any concerns regarding children with SEND.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder implements the early years foundation stage thoroughly. Children enjoy playing and learning, and show good levels of engagement. Pre-school children have their own folders to support transition into school, including activities to develop their fine-motor control, phonic development and a love of stories. Checking children's progress from their starting points is effective. Progress is shared with parents through electronic tracking systems and individual learning journey booklets. Assessments are accurate, and planning supports individual children's needs. Resources cover all areas of learning, and storage boxes are labelled with words and pictures to encourage children's independent access.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder provides a highly stimulating learning environment. All areas of the provision are devoted to children having excellent learning experiences. Children have positive boundaries around behaviour and show respect to others. They feel safe enough to express their needs and worries to adults at any time. The childminder has a flexible daily structure which allows for outings locally and trips further afield to museums and places of interest. Children are encouraged to interact with people they meet from different backgrounds, such as librarians, local shopkeepers and museum staff, and learn about their lives. The childminder tracks children's attendance and incident records, which are directly linked to parents' devices, further strengthening the established dialogue with parents as partners in their child's education.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make consistently good rates of progress from their starting points. All children, including those with SEND, are assessed and their needs well documented and planned for with parents and other professionals. Children are highly motivated, eager to join in and happy. They know the parameters of good behaviour and what is expected of them. Children show good levels of independence, can make choices and are well prepared for the next stage in their learning.
