Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder ensures that her knowledge of child protection matters is current and up to date. She knows the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder implements stringent health and safety procedures to ensure that children are safe in her care. She has developed positive relationships with parents and regularly communicates with them to share information about children's care and learning. She focuses well on her professional development and makes good use of training, to help give her a greater understanding of how to support children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts very well with children and encourages them to participate in a range of activities. She uses the information gathered from observations of children to plan activities that help them to progress further. She successfully supports children's language and communication skills through singing activities. The childminder supports children's early reading skills well. For example, she encourages older children to talk about what is happening in the story and younger children enjoy copying the animal sounds. The childminder maximises opportunities to teach children mathematical concepts. For example, older children compare the size of the wheels they and the childminder have drawn on their monster trucks, and younger children count the bubbles they see.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder supports children to feel self-assured and confident effectively. For example, they happily explore and readily ask for help. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles and hygiene well. For instance, she provides children with many opportunities to encourage them to be physically active outdoors and to wash their hands before eating. She supports children to take safe risks, for example, to climb apparatus and other equipment safely. Children develop good social skills and play amicably together. Children are respectful, learn about people's similarities and differences and willingly take turns and share.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They are self-motivated and have lots of fun as they learn. They understand complex instructions and know how to use equipment safely. Older children participate in lengthy conversations with the childminder. They have developed good self-care skills and are very independent. Children are prepared well for future learning.
