Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her responsibility to notify Ofsted of any changes or significant matters and to ensure the suitability of anyone living or working on the premises. The childminder uses risk assessment well to keep children safe and as part of evaluating her care practices. She and her co-childminder understand the signs that may suggest a child is at risk of harm and know how to refer any concerns about children's welfare. The childminder has a safeguarding policy and clear procedures for using mobile phones and cameras. The childminder works well with parents to keep them up to date about their children's care and learning. Parents report that they feel involved in their children's learning and that children's days are filled with lots of activities and enjoyable experiences. The childminder works well with her co-childminder to monitor children's progress and close any gaps in children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder extends children's ideas well to improve their learning. She asks interesting questions, such as 'can you make it spin and click' as babies discover how to make interactive toys work. She uses lots of language to encourage older children to identify numbers and objects. She helps them learn new words. For example, she encourages them to name different creatures in the garden and offers additional resources, such as magnifying glasses for them to observe these in more detail. The childminder creates great excitement as she joins in with the search and children squeal with delight as they excitedly talk about the different bugs and creatures they find. Children develop a good understanding of the world around them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has a warm and confident approach to helping children feel safe and secure. She manages children's individual care needs well and continually praises and encourages children to help them develop good levels of confidence and self-esteem. Overall, the childminder manages children's behaviour well and teaches them to be careful when playing around babies. Children play very well together and are polite and respectful towards the childminder and other children. All children are confident and motivated to play and learn.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children, including those with SEND, progress well from their initial starting points. They enjoy the stimulating play experiences on offer and eagerly join in. Babies enjoy exploring resources in the garden, moving between activities and attempting to stack plastic cups. Older children identify and name numbers as part of practising their early mathematical skills. They enjoy imaginary play and learn to write their names. Children who speak English as an additional language join in with repeating words, such as 'pop' and bubbles' as they play with bubbles outdoors. Children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning.
