This provision is inadequate
n Despite recent training, the childminder has not developed and implemented a clear policy for when allegations are made against adults on the premises. Additionally, she has not followed her safeguarding procedures when there may be concerns about a child's welfare. n The childminder has not acted on the risks identified on her premises by removing or minimising them. n The childminder does not have an up-to-date record of children's attendance, which compromises their safety in an emergency. n The childminder has not consistently supervised children appropriately. This means that children's safety is not paramount.
p.1
It has the following strengths
n The childminder has appropriately addressed the actions raised since the last inspection. n Partnerships with parents are positive. Parents are complimentary about the care their children receive. The childminder provides them with regular updates to ensure that they are well informed about their children's progress and welfare. n Children are settled and happy. The childminder has developed strong bonds with children, which helps to promote their emotional well-being.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is inadequate
Safeguarding is not effective. The childminder has completed additional online safeguarding training recently to extend her knowledge. However, she has not ensured that her knowledge is fully effective, as she has not followed her safeguarding procedures when there are concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder's procedures for the action to be taken in the event of an allegation being made against an adult associated with the registration do not reflect the correct action to be taken. She does not have accurate records to show children's attendance. The childminder has evaluated the service she provides and sought feedback from parents. However, she has not identified weaknesses in practice and acted on the areas she would like to improve, such as professional development opportunities. The childminder has, on occasion, failed to supervise children effectively. This has compromised children's safety.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
The childminder has recently commenced a new process of assessment for evaluating children's development. This includes identifying children's starting points and their next steps in learning. The childminder has a good range of resources which she uses to engage and motivate the children. Children enjoy the outdoor play opportunities and the childminder uses appropriate questioning and discussion to find out what they know. The childminder brings everyday activities, such as playing picnics and shopping, to promote mathematical discussion and language development. She follows children's individual interests and liaises with other settings and parents, to progress children's learning. The childminder now completes the progress check for children aged between two and three years. Children are generally working within the expected developmental age bands.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Children behave well in the childminder's care. They are considerate towards their friends and share toys willingly. The childminder provides children with lots of praise for their achievements and they consequently have high levels of confidence. Regular risk assessments are carried out on the premises and risks are identified. However, the childminder does not always respond to these risks, meaning that children's safety and well-being are not assured.
p.3
Outcomes for children require improvement
Children make typical progress for their age. They engage in conversations with the childminder, responding to questions and recalling events. Children are developing their literacy skills, enjoying rhyming activities and looking at books. They are developing some of the skills that they need to be ready for their move on to school. For example, older children participate in group play and can dress in outdoor clothing with some assistance.
