This provision is good
n The childminder is kind and caring. She provides a warm, nurturing environment for children. Children form strong bonds with the childminder. They are happy and settled in her care. n The childminder is proactive when ensuring that she keeps up to date with new early years ideas, and she is keen to build on her knowledge and skills even further. For example, she carries out regular training and independent research. Following training, the childminder has improved ways to support children effectively in understanding and enhancing their health and self-care. n The childminder helps to develop children's language skills. She talks to children, emphasising key words, and repeats words and phrases back to them. Children who speak English as an additional language are supported well. n The childminder gives children plenty of praise and encouragement, which helps to boost their self-esteem and confidence.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The childminder evaluates the provision effectively and includes the views of parents and children to help identify areas for further improvement. For example, she has enhanced the outdoor play space available to children to help develop their interests and exploration. The childminder monitors children's progress, taking action to address any emerging gaps in their learning. For instance, strategies to help children with their communication and language skills are implemented effectively. The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of the procedures to follow to help protect all children's welfare and keep them safe. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder identifies any risks in the environment and promptly addresses these to ensure children play safely.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes and assesses children's progress effectively. She uses her good knowledge of what they already know to plan for their future learning. The childminder challenges children while she supports their play. For instance, she encourages them to consider and identify some of the sounds they can hear in the outdoor environment. She gives children clear explanations to enhance their learning, and teaches them about some of the different vehicles they can hear. The childminder enhances children's mathematical skills effectively throughout their experiences. For instance, she encourages children to count as well as consider and compare different sizes of vehicles hidden in the sand.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children develop a good understanding of diversity beyond their immediate family. For example, the environment has positive cultural images, books and role-play resources for them to explore. The childminder effectively promotes good behaviour and children are gaining a secure understanding of sharing and taking turns. The childminder promotes children's good health well. For example, she provides nutritional snacks and engages children in discussions about healthy food choices.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn a good range of skills that prepare them well for their next stage of education and their move on to school. For example, they enjoy practising skills that help develop early handwriting, using a range of tools to make marks throughout their play and exploration. Children explore a wide range of environments with the childminder, and develop their physical and social skills successfully.
