Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a strong awareness of the process to follow to raise concerns regarding children's welfare. She assesses risks in her home and the wider environment, which supports her ability to keep children safe. The childminder monitors the provision she offers. She makes suitable adjustments to the service she offers to meet the needs of the children and their families. She has strong relationships with a wide range of other professionals. Parents are very pleased with the care and learning the childminder provides for their children. The childminder shares information with them regarding the progress their children make. She also shares her professional knowledge with them, such as information gained from the training courses she completes. This partnership working helps her to support children's continuity of care successfully.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder demonstrates to the children how to use tools appropriately and safely. They follow her instructions and directions well. She uses supporting language to develop children's vocabulary as they play. For instance, she speaks to the children about the tools they use with play dough. The childminder monitors the progress children make closely. This helps her to identify any gaps in their learning rapidly. She differentiates the activities that she provides well. She confidently supports children's individual next steps in their learning. The childminder skilfully helps children to develop their counting skills. For example, she helps them to count the number of toy cars they have lined up.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy being with the childminder and they develop their independence well. For example, the childminder gives them plates and knives to cut their own fruit at snack time. Children confidently speak to visitors about what they are doing. The childminder supports them to develop their sharing and turn-taking skills. She reminds them of the rules in place and clearly explains the importance for them to follow these rules. The childminder supports children well to confidently meet their own personal care needs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children persevere and stay focused as they learn. They are proud of their achievements. For example, they complete challenging jigsaw puzzles and excitedly share their success with the childminder. Children concentrate as they join pieces together to build road tracks. This helps them to develop their hand-to-eye coordination even further. They participate enthusiastically in dressing up in the range of costumes available. They practise using their smaller muscles to do up buttons by themselves. Children enjoy exploring the local community with the childminder, such as going on trips to the local park.
