This provision is good
n The childminder has addressed the actions raised at the previous inspection. For example, she has updated her safeguarding policy. She provides parents with a written procedure that they must follow if they fail to collect their child at the appointed time. n The childminder has a good relationship with parents. Parents state that they are delighted with the care provided by the childminder, and that their children are well fed, have fun and really enjoy attending this safe and caring setting. n Children develop very friendly relationships with the childminder and each other. They manage their feelings and behaviour well. Children listen, follow instructions, share and show respect towards others. n Children make lots of decisions in their play. For example, some children make the decision to sit quietly and relax in the lounge. Other children choose to practise their writing skills and draw pictures. All children help themselves to a drink when needed

and confidently select from the play resources provided. n The childminder is not using her discussions with school teachers to fully explore what skills children are developing at school. This does not help the childminder to fully complement and extend children's learning and development.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder shows a commitment to improving her practice and the experiences she provides for children. She attends child protection training to develop her knowledge further. The childminder has a clear understanding of her responsibilities. She knows how to respond to concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder completes daily safety checks to help her to identify and minimise hazards indoors and outdoors. She regularly reviews her risk assessment. For example, she identified that in an emergency, the route taken by children to evacuate via the back of the house was not safe. She changed the route and practised the new plan with children. This helps to keep children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is well qualified and experienced. She observes children at play to identify what they enjoy doing. She uses the information well to plan stimulating activities that reflect children's interests. As a result, children become engrossed in their play. Children enjoy being creative and show an interest in the world around them. They concentrate very well while drawing pictures using their imaginations. For example, some children draw a picture of a rainbow, while others draw a picture of a cat. The childminder asks lots of questions to get children to think. Children talk confidently and share their experiences. For example, they talk about what they have eaten for lunch at school and what films they have seen at the cinema. Children develop their literacy skills. They carefully write their names to label their artwork.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder places a strong emphasis on developing children's social and emotional well-being. Children enjoy relaxed mealtimes. They sit together at the table and confidently discuss their day at school. Children show they feel safe and secure as they engage in conversations with visitors to the setting. The childminder is a positive role model and listens attentively to children. She invites children to make choices and decisions about different aspects of their care. For example, children choose the fillings for their teatime sandwiches. Children learn how to follow a healthy lifestyle. They enjoy fresh air and exercise while exploring places in the local area. For example, children enjoy a visit to the local park. They show an interest in the natural world and decide to pick wild flowers. Children develop their small-muscle skills. They use scissors to cut the flowers and arrange them into a bouquet to give to their mums.
