p.1
This provision is inadequate
n The childminder has failed to fully address the action raised at her previous inspection. She has not provided Ofsted with all the information necessary to carry out the required checks on all of the people over 16 years of age living in her home. As a result, Ofsted has been unable to carry out the required suitability checks that help to keep children safe.
p.1
It has the following strengths
n The childminder has close links with the local authority adviser. This helps her to keep her teaching practice up to date so that children continue to make good progress. n The childminder works closely with other professionals who support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. This means there is a shared approach to children's care and learning so that they receive consistent support. n The childminder builds effective relationships with the children. For example, she uses endearing words and offers children cuddles. The childminder speaks softly to children as she chats to them throughout the day and praises their good behaviour. This helps children to feel confident and safe, and to engage in new experiences.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective. The childminder has failed to fully address the action raised at her previous inspection. She has not provided Ofsted with the information needed to carry out the required checks on all of the people over 16 years of age living in her household. However, the childminder has ensured that a Disclosure and Barring Service check has been obtained for every person living in her home. Nevertheless, Ofsted has been unable to carry out the additional checks required to confirm the suitability of all the people over 16 years of age living in her household. The childminder regularly updates her child protection training. As a result, she knows the types of abuse that children may experience and what to do if she has any concerns that a child may be at risk of harm. The childminder enhances parents' understanding of how their children's learning can be best supported at home, for example through daily
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder monitors the educational programme and uses suitable guidance to benchmark children's ongoing achievements across all areas of learning. She uses a wide range of successful teaching strategies. For example, the childminder makes sure that children can see the storybook and models a clear voice with expression to hold children's interest. During such times, she names the animals in the book and models the sounds they make. The childminder extends this activity further by singing nursery rhymes linked to the characters in the book. She follows each child's lead and motivation for learning. For instance, she supports children in their play when they choose to leave the adult-led activity and engage in small-world imaginary play. The childminder shows an interest and plays along with the children, who are beginning to learn to pretend. She describes what the children are doing to help them develop their understanding of
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Weaknesses in the leadership and management of the setting do not promote children's welfare at all times. Nevertheless, the childminder provides children with plenty of opportunities for fresh air and outdoor exercise. For example, children climb, slide and manoeuvre sit-on wheeled toys in the garden. The childminder also takes the children to the local playground. This offers children the opportunity to experience challenge and manage risks for themselves.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points and develop the skills they need in readiness for nursery or school. They concentrate and solve problems as they complete the jigsaw puzzles. Children make marks as they draw on the paper with the crayons. They are happy, self-assured, and interact freely and enthusiastically with one another and the childminder.
