p.1

Pathway Care Solutions Ltd

Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This children‟s home is registered to care for up to four children. It is part of a large national organisation.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The home has a registered manager in post.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This children‟s home was judged inadequate at the last full inspection on 5 and 6 March 2019. This monitoring visit was conducted to view the progress made in respect of the requirements issued at the full inspection.

p.1

This monitoring visit

A child has left the home since the last inspection. The registered manager‟s view was that staff were unable to meet the needs of this child.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The staff team remains in its infancy, with a significant number of new staff joining the home very soon. Therefore, a stable staff team is not currently in place.

p.1

This monitoring visit

An emerging nurturing approach towards challenging behaviour was observed during this visit. Expert therapeutic parenting training has been provided to the current staff. However, good practice is not embedded within the home at this time.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Care planning systems have been amended and improvement can be seen. Risk assessments still do not provide appropriate guidance for staff to manage aggressive behaviours. Therefore, consistent good practice is not in place.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There is a clear procedure for when children go missing. Records are detailed, and support is provided for children when they return home. Physical interventions are well documented, and the rationale and context for these is clear. However, on one occasion an unrecognised technique was used, placing children and staff at risk of harm. Inspection report for children‟s home - monitoring visit: 1277045 2 The child who lives at the home is fully engaged with their education. There is a marked improvement in the child‟s attendance at school.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Fire drills are now completed on a regular basis. During this visit, one of the fire alarms was malfunctioning. Repair work is in progress.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Senior leaders are providing a great deal of support to the registered manager. The ability of the registered manager to put this advice and guidance into practice will be closely reviewed at the next full inspection.
