They have identified areas they will be developing in the future, such as developing learning opportunities outside. n Children form close attachments with the childminder. She understands children's care and learning needs well. Children are settled and happy in her care. The childminder is a positive role model and children's behaviour is good. n The childminder plans a range of interesting activities that support children to develop new skills. Children enjoy learning and are active learners. They express their needs well and enjoy accessing resources that support all areas of learning. n Partnerships with parents are in place. Parents are very complimentary about the care the childminder provides. They state, 'I know my child is safe and well looked after'

and that children are happy. n Children gain an understanding of the wider world. They explore special celebration days from different cultures. For example, they take part in creative activities, listen to music from around the world and taste a wide range of different foods. n At times, the childminder does not allow enough time for children to think about questions before formulating a response. n The childminder attends mandatory training but has not yet accessed training to strengthen her knowledge of the early years.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands the action she must take and who to inform, should she have concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder is vigilant about children's safety. For example, she ensures that she locks the entrance door after children have arrived and places keys out of reach. The childminder works closely with her co-childminder to ensure that anything new that needs to be implemented is fully discussed. For example, changes to policies and procedures. The childminder attends mandatory training. She has begun to develop partnerships with other professionals. For example, she attends network meetings with local authority advisers.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is a good teacher and supports children well through discussion and modelling how to use resources. For example, children make an Easter collage. The childminder carefully supports younger children to use a glue stick, which promotes their physical skills and co-ordination. The childminder engages children in learning and creates a sense of awe and wonder. For example, children are mesmerised as she projects a torch onto the wall and they watch as the light moves across the ceiling. She then encourages children to attempt this independently. All parts of the day are learning opportunities. For example, she encourages children to use their cutlery as they eat lunch. The childminder regularly assesses children's progress to support them in their development and plan for their next steps in learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder nurtures children's individual care needs well. For example, she helps children to settle to sleep as they cuddle a favourite comfort blanket from home. The childminder supports and promotes personal care needs. For example, she regularly checks if children need the bathroom and encourages children to independently wash their hands before eating. The childminder helps children to understand personal safety. For example, she teaches children how to cross the road safely when on outings in the local environment. Children listen carefully to the childminder and demonstrate positive behaviour.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their development from their individual starting points. They access resources with enthusiasm and enjoy playing co-operatively with their peers. Children use their manners and are considerate of the needs of others. Children are developing the skills they will need for future learning, including the move to school.
