This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged declined in effectiveness at the interim inspection on 17 January 2019. Following this inspection, Ofsted issued the provider with two compliance notices under section 22A of the Care Standards Act 2000. The compliance notices were issued in relation to regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard, of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted carried out an unannounced visit to the home on 19 February 2019 to monitor the actions that the provider had taken to comply with the notices. At that visit it was identified that the provider had not taken sufficient action to meet the two compliance notices. As a result, two compliance notices were reissued in relation to regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard. A restriction notice was also issued following this inspection. This notice is in place until 5 April 2019.

This monitoring visit
Ofsted carried out a further unannounced visit to the home on 11 March 2019 to monitor the home’s progress in implementing the actions set out in the compliance notices. At this visit, it was found that the provider had taken sufficient action to ensure that these notices were met.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A further monitoring visit was undertaken on 3 April 2019, to monitor compliance with the restriction notice. At this visit, it was found that the provider has continued Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: SC457506 2 to improve the quality of care provided to the young person living in the home. The home continues to be staffed by a stable staff team whose members have undertaken a range of training courses to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the young person.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There is now a manager in post, who is in day-to-day charge of the home. Staff feel well-supported and were complimentary about the new manager. As a result of all of these factors, the young person is more settled in the home as he is receiving continuity of care from a stable staff team that is equipped to meet his needs.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff have taken action to address the requirement made at the last visit to address concerns about the young person smoking in the home. There has been one safeguarding incident since the last visit and this was managed well by the manager and staff.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The outcome of this visit is that the provider has taken sufficient action to address the shortfalls identified previously. The provider is now in a position to admit and care for young people in line with its statement of purpose and the restriction notice can be lifted. A further unannounced inspection will take place to continue to monitor the quality of care provided.
