Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is confident to discuss potential signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect. She is fully aware of how to continually protect children's welfare. The childminder has a secure understanding of what would give her cause for concern in relation to children being drawn into radicalisation. She uses effective systems to accurately record children's attendance and to log visitors to the setting to maintain children's safety.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of children's individual interests and plans experiences for what they need to learn next. She observes children to highlight their abilities and record their 'wow' moments. This supports children to progress well in their all-round learning and development. The childminder fully recognises her responsibility to complete the progress check for children aged between two and three years. She understands the significance of sharing this information with parents and health visitors. Children show excitement and enthusiasm as they willingly participate in a wide variety of activities. For instance, they concentrate well while exploring malleable materials and persevere when using an array of tools and equipment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good and they listen well to clear explanations. The childminder provides them with regular praise and reassurance to build children's self-esteem. She implements effective settling-in procedures to help children to become familiar with their new surroundings and to build positive relationships from the outset. This successfully promotes children's emotional well-being. The childminder ensures children have daily opportunities for outdoor play to extend their physical development and to access fresh air. Children are offered a good range of balanced meals and snacks to help them to understand about healthy lifestyles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They thoroughly enjoy taking part in creative activities where they express their artistic ideas and freely explore a selection of colour. Children develop an awareness of simple mathematical concepts. For example, they identify different sizes and shapes as they mould play dough and fill and empty various containers during sand play. Children start to recall past experiences and link their play to familiar songs, such as 'Twinkle twinkle little star' as they use a star- shaped cutter.
