Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the procedures she needs to follow to raise a concern about a child. She is aware of situations that present a risk to children, such as their exposure to extreme views. The childminder is confident about her role in maintaining children's safety. She attends mandatory training, such as paediatric first-aid training, and is confident in how to deal with incidents that may arise. Robust risk assessments of her home and outings help ensure that any hazards are identified and minimised. The childminder is professional and well organised. She keeps robust records and rigorously implements her policies and procedures. Parents are reassured that their children are cared for well.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts well with children and provides a range of activities that children enjoy. For instance, children delight in making pizzas. Children are imaginative and create pizzas of different shapes and sizes. They stretch and mould the dough, building up their muscles and dexterity. They confidently make healthy choices and discuss the importance of eating fresh food. The childminder extends this further and engages children in active discussions. For example, she asks them questions that help to support their awareness of the wider world, such as where pizzas originate from. The childminder provides children with ongoing praise and encouragement, which motivates them to join in activities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides healthy meals and snacks for children daily. She works closely with parents to ensure she meets their child's dietary needs. Children are self-assured and talk freely and enthusiastically to the childminder and visitors. They listen to the childminder and follow routines well. For example, they know where to put their coats and shoes on arrival. This helps them to understand and follow the setting's rules and boundaries, and create a safe environment for themselves and others. Children show a keen interest in diversity and the world around them. For example, they openly discuss the reasons for beacons and small bumps on pavements at pedestrian crossings. The childminder uses opportunities such as these to discuss road safety in more detail. This helps to build on children's awareness of personal safety, such as when out in the community. Children have regular opportunities to play and exercise in the fresh air. For
