This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At the interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has sustained effectiveness.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
Since the full inspection in November 2018, the same young person has remained in the home. She continues to benefit from continuity of care from a dedicated team of staff.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and the staff have worked closely with the young person‟s therapist, and together have helped the young person to make significant progress in her emotional well-being since she arrived at the home. However, the manager does not always monitor all areas of the young person‟s care, such as the use of rewards and making Interim inspection report children’s home: SC457089 2 sure that all physical interventions are appropriate. As a result, the manager is missing an opportunity to develop and improve the quality of care the young person is receiving.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The young person told the inspector that she is happy and that she feels safe. She talks positively about the staff who care for her. Staff encourage the young person to contribute to setting day-to-day routines and boundaries as well as contributing to plans for her long-term future. This shows that staff do value the young person‟s views and actively encourage her to contribute to the quality of her own care.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
When significant incidents have occurred, the manager and staff have ensured that they have followed policy and procedures. They have worked closely with the different partnership agencies, such as the designated officer, to ensure that the young person is safeguarded. However, staff do not always make sure that her risk assessments are kept up to date with information about emerging areas of risk, such as in relation to her education or following a significant incident.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The young person has only just started to attend school for a limited period each day. Staff have been slow to raise concerns with her social worker over delays in the young person receiving a school placement. This absence of challenge has delayed the young person from receiving the right level of education support she needs.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
Some requirements and recommendations from the last inspection have still not been met, and these have been reissued. Some occasional staff have still not read amendments to important documents before they work with the young person. The manager is not ensuring that the young person is given the opportunity to talk to someone following an incident of physical restraint, and that a recording is made of this conversation.
